Vintage Studio Pottery Sgraffito Pot - Nick & Julie Williams, Consall Forge

Earthenware pot with sgraffito cloud shapes on a beige ground. It has the mark of Nick & Julie Williams' Consall Forge Pottery and a further mark dating it to around the end of the 1970s/early 1980s. Nick Williams still runs the Pottery. There is a cork lid with a painted underside. Whether this is original or not, I can't say - it is a touch worn though. There's a rather sweet smell inside which reminds me of the pipe tobacco my one-time father-in-law used to smoke so it's possible this has been used as a tobacco jar. Apart from needing a good clean, it's in excellent condition.

Vintage Brown Honeycomb Glaze Handled Soup Bowl - Kernewek, Cornwall

SOLD

Handled soup bowl in a brown honeycomb glaze. It is in absolutely perfect condition with some very light crazing.

It is not marked with a name and I make no claim that it is either Fosters or Kernewek although the pot did come from a large box of similar items and one of them was marked Kernewek, Cornwall; conversely Kernewek or Fosters sometimes did not mark all their ware.

6cm x 16.5cm (d incl. handle)

Vintage Stoneware Planter - Hillstonia - Moira Pottery

SOLD

Large stoneware planter from the Hillstonia range by Moira Pottery. It's rectangular, shallow with a rough textured finish with a glossy glaze. It does have a couple of chips around the edge and there is a hairline crack onm one of the ends. Encouragingly it looks as though someone has attempted to repair the crack but the glue has now deteriorated and discoloured and is flaking off, suggesting it was done a long time ago (Moira was closed in 1972) and suggesting that it's still quite sound. These were generally designed for outside use and in all other respects it's in very presentable condition.

Vintage Tall Jug Vase - Aldridge Pottery

Very attractive tall and slender jug shaped vase in ivory with pastel coloured blossom design. It's by Aldridge Pottery of Longton and would have been made from around the 1980s until the demise of the pottery in the mid '90s. It is in perfect condition.

25cm x 14cm

Vintage Large Planter - Jersey Pottery

Large planter in unglazed stoneware with indented circles and lines in one of the Jersey "House" designs. It's glazed brown on the inside and is not entirely round, being slightly squared off, and will take a pot of around 16cm maximum diameter across the top. It does have a couple of faults - there's a "bubble" on the inside bottom and a slight dent on the outside surface. These are original defects and in all other respects it's perfect. The base has the original cork covering, stamped with the pottery mark. Very heavy item and would prefer collection if possible but will post through Parcelforce 48 if required.

Studio Pottery Wall Pocket

Conical shaped hanging wall pocket, thrown and deformed, with strap handle hanger. It's finished in a brown grey-blue drip glaze with some unglazed areas, possibly wax resist. No idea of the maker, it's just a very pleasant looking piece.

Vintage Brown Honeycomb Glaze Sugar Bowl Kernewek, Cornwall

Small sugar bowl in a brown honeycomb glaze.

Vintage Studio Pottery Stoneware Honey Pot

SOLD

Small stoneware lidded pot originally containing honey from the, still extant, Heather Hills Farm in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. It's a classic honey pot design although it's for storage rather than table use as it lacks a slot in the lid for a dipper. The farm now uses glass products so I am guessing this is a few years old. In perfect condition.

Small Studio Pottery Lidded Stoneware Pot

Retro Set of Stoneware Ramekins and Sisal Tray - Biltons

SOLD

This is a set of seven (six plus a spare) brown/green stoneware ramekins in a sisal bound wire tray. The whole ensemble is probably late 1970s - early 1980s so does display a little wear although I have to say the basket/tray is in very good condition and overall it's a good looking set.

Overall size: 19cm x 27cm x 6cm

Vintage Ornamental Ceramic Watering Can - Kernewek Pottery

SOLD

Brown watering can vase by Kernewek Pottery, Cornwall. It's in the brown honeycomb pattern with a leaf circle on each side.  It has been used as there's water staining on the inside however it's in excellent condition externally.

Hand Painted Green and Gold hanging Plate - Seva, Rhodes

Rather pretty hand painted hanging plate by Seva Ceramics of Rhodes, Greece. It's green flowers and leaves all edged in 24ct gold. Unfortunately there is a small chip to the edge, 3 o'clock in the photos. In normal light this would barely notice but a keen hobbyist could disguise it very well. There are small areas of wear to the gilding eslewhere but nothing serious and it remains a nice looking item. It is drilled in the foot ring for hanging (and indeed does have a cord attached).

19cm diameter

Studio Pottery Stoneware Jug - Colin Kellam

SOLD

Nice stoneware jug glazed in light grey with blue highlights and horizontal leaf design. The mark is, I think, for Colin Kellam although the marks have been infilled slightly and not all the details are visible. There is a similar mark, that of Isabel Denyer but there are other features, such as the shape of the handle and flare of the spout and rim that suggest Colin Kellam more. Many thanks to the other eBayer who advised! It's in excellent condition.

Novelty Salt & Pepper Pot Set - Cow and Milk - Russ

Charming novelty salt and pepper set in the form of a cow in a dressing gown (pepper) and a carton of milk (salt). The are by Russ Barrie & Co and don't actually appear to have been used  as the label on the salt pot is still across the stopper.

Miniature Handmade Soapstone Sea Lion Ornament - Collectable

SOLD

Small handmade soapstone figurine of a sea lion atop a rock. It is Canadian - half the label is still visible and there is enough to suggest it's handmade ("...la main"). I'm not sure of the maker - it does not appear to be a Wolf Original though, the label suggests another maker. Also, I cannot guarantee soapstone as many of these give the false impression they are hand carved when they are in fact cast from resin made with powdered stone. This does appear to be stone though as I have scraped a minute piece away from the base and it certainly didn't react like resin. It is though, in very good condition.

Miniature Cobalt Blue & Gold Plate with Fragonard Design - Limoges

Small cobalt blue plate with gold decoration, including the central image of a courting couple after Fragonard. It has the original brass mount and wire stand which does not appear ever to have been removed although the stand has been bent around a bit (not least by me in an attempt to get it to stand in the correct position. However the decoration does not appear to be damaged although as I am reluctant to remove it, I cannot guarantee this. In all other respects it is in excellent condition.

Danish Studio Pottery Tealight Holder - Gimni ?

Stoneware tealight holder, bowl shaped with perforations. It does have an inscribed mark on the base that appears to read "Gimni" or "Gimini" but I can find nothing similar, at least online. It has been used as there's a little wax residue but it's in excellent condition.

Vintage Half-Pint Pewter Tankard - James Yates

SOLD

Good quality half pint tankard of substantial thickness and weight by James Yates. The history of James Yates is convoluted and the right to use the name, molds and touches has passed between many companies, including Gaskell & Chambers who held the rights until their own demise in 1983. This design is based roughly on the G & C 14/4027 design appearing in their catalogues of the mid 20th Century. It has the ABPC mark on the base which would date it post 1970 so we can date it fairly accurately. It does have a couple of nicks and scratches but nothing too drastic and with a bit of elbow grease it buffs up quite well.

Vintage Blue Mug - Holkham Pottery

SOLD

Large and very distinctive blue mug by Holkham Pottery.  It's decorated with festoons around the necks and belly and has the number T117 impressed on the base. Apart from being crazed it's in very good condition. Holkham ceased production in 2008, I think this dates from around the late 1960s - early 70s.

Vintage Studio Pottery Stoneware Oil Burner - Robert Tarling

SOLD

Very nice conical stoneware oil burner by Robert Tarling. I'm not sure if this was from his time at the Kersey Pottery or later the Newport Pottery in Dyfed although I'm drawn to the latter. It could also be a drizzler although the cork would have to be removed for that to work effectively and it's too close to the spout. It does have what I thought was a wick but is actually a pipe cleaner. A wick would work better - light it to draw the scented oil through and then extinguish it as the oil starts to burn, allowing it to glow for a few minutes. Nice looking item.

Vintage Retro Three Compartment Wooden Tray - Greco - Finnar

SOLD

Rather nice solid dark wood, possibly teak,  oval snack tray. It's divided into three compartments and was made in England by Greco. There is another mark on the base, "Finnar" and a tree-like symbol, presumably the timber distributer or grower. I vaguely remember both these names from my youth but can find no trace of them now. There are a few signs of wear but the marks are confined pretty much to the surface and with a couple of hours' work this will look as good as new. Lovely piece of retro kit for your 60s and 70s inspired evenings.

Vintage Leather Stud Box

SOLD

Cylindrical stitched hide and board gentleman's stud box. The embossed "Studs" on the lid would probably have been gold at one time; the stitching has also discoloured around the lid through use and one stitch down the seam has frayed slightly but it's in generally very good condition and has plenty of life left in it yet.

Ceramic Fruit Juicer - Retro

Small ceramic juicer, the right size for a lemon or lime, in speckled grey glaze with a brown rim. It's a few years old (although the design of these hasn't changed for decades) but is in excellent condition. It does have drain holes and a rim on the underside so may have had a matching bowl at one time but it will function equally well on a saucer.

8cm x 4cm  Will fit a bowl of 6cm diameter

Dark Cobalt Blue & Gold Porcelain Vase - Limoges Castel, France

SOLD

Beautiful dark cobalt blue trumpet neck vase by Limoges Castel of France. It is decorated with 22 carat gold lining around the scalloped rim and base; gold floral designs around the neck and obligatory Fragonard inspired image. There are one or two barely visible scratches on it but the gilding looks to be in excellent condition.

Vintage Large Wood Effect Jug - Dee Cee

Dee Cee imported or commissioned then rebadged items from many pottery manufacturers during the 1950s and 60s. This one I think is by Moira/Hillstonia or possibly Hartleys. It's a beautiful large stoneware jug in wood effect with barrel straps around it. It's in perfect condition, too.

Antique Pewter Bellied Measure - Gaskell & Chambers

SOLD

Small (1/6th Gill) pewter bellied measure by Gaskell & Chambers of Birmingham. It does bear a verification stamp, the crown is visible although I can't make out the monarch's initials. The uniform verification number is 93 which makes it verified in Lancashire from 1879 onwards. G & C were formed in 1892. There is another stamp on the belly but I can only make out a few letters. It has a few knocks, small dents and marks and the handle is slightly bent but it's nevertheless charming, as these invariably are.

Vintage Pale Green Rose Bud Vase - Carlton Ware

SOLD

Pale green bud vase with pink rose design by Carlton Ware. The impressed mark on the base reads 2555/8 (I think) and the stamp looks to be the pre-1968 script version. It has some crazing but is otherwise in excellent condition.

Vintage Earthenware Milk Jug with Lid

Excellent tall earthenware milk jug with pewter lid. It has a salmon pink band around the middle otherwise it's natural red earthenware with clear glaze. The lid is more or less perfect; the hinge works well and is not loose. The band around the rim is well secured and the knob on the top has very little wear. Apart from some all over crazing this is in exceptionally good condition. It is though unmarked so I have no clue as to the maker.

Vintage Crying Face Pickled Onion Pot - Toni Raymond Pottery

SOLD

Great pickled onion pot in the "face" style by the Toni Raymond pottery. The stamp is just visible on the base and this would have been produced around 30-40 years ago. In very good condition indeed with little sign of wear.

Vintage or Antique Hammered Silver Plated Snuff Box and Spoon

SOLD

Small snuff box in hammer finished silver plated metal. Open the lid and a spoon is clipped to a hinged plate inside. I have no idea of the age, some of the plate has worn away on the inside of the lid and it has a couple of dents, a few small scratches if you examine it very closely and some ingrained grime; a healthy patina in some respects. The lid closes nicely and it's a very pleasingly tactile object.
