Brown Wheat Garland Jug - Arthur Wood

Mid sized fluted pitcher shaped fluted jug by Arthur Wood. It's a treacle glaze and has a garland of wheat around the neck. Unfortunately it has a hairline crack across the base, and annoyingly something I've just noticed while writing this description. It runs from just to the left of the "E" in England to the last "R" in Arthur and about halfway up the "E" side. Unfortunately it does leak but it would look good as a dried flower vase.

Vintage White Milk Jug - Royal Doulton

A Royal Doulton milk jug in cream/off white with leaf shaped handle joints and four flutes. It has the "A" backstamp which should date it to somewhere between 1939 & 1955 and there is a further impressed "48" on the base. There is a small chip on the front of the footring, annoying as otherwise it's more or less faultless with only the faintest of marks visible.

Antique Small Black Milk Glass Creamer Jug - Davidson

Small black (or very deep blackcurrant when the light shines through) milk glass cream jug that I have seen dated variously as Victorian on the 20th Century Glass website and also as Art Deco Davidson on others. I am no expert, I can only give the result of my research! Some surface wear and a small chip to the footring but otherwise still a great looking piece.

Vintage Small Grey Lustre Jug - Possibly Prinknash

Beautiful slender grey lustre jug with pinched spout. It appears unmarked on the base (may have been obscured as the red clay does look to have been coloured - some washed away while I was cleaning it) but it's possible that this is a relatively vintage jug by Prinknash Abbey Pottery although I haven't seen one of this style - apart from the spout which is a signature style. There were similar items from other potteries  at the same time though so I cannot guarantee it. It is though a splendid piece and in excellent condition and will grace any shelf.

Vintage Large Stoneware Ferndale Pitcher or Jug - Denby

Large Brown Mug or Jug "Explore" by Patricia Ryan - Miam Miam

Unusual large mug in the "Explore" pattern by Patricia Ryan. Now I have to say that as a mug it does seem rather impractical as it's difficult to sip from (I've tried it - the drink arrives quickly as it tips into the bulbous top half. And the spouts are narrow). As a jug however it works better and you don't even need to change hands for pouring left or right. They are though highly popular. Maybe I just don't have the knack. In excellent condition.

Small Stoneware Handle-less Jug - Jersey Pottery

Small stoneware jug with unglazed body and no handle. The top, spout and inside are glazed brown and there is an impressed circular design on one side. Cork protector on the base that is stamped with the 3 lions stamp and this is over the usual mark (the cork slipped off while I was washing it - it has re-affixed with the existing adhesive and is very fast). The matt surface has a few marks that may remove with cleaning but otherwise it's in very good condition.

Vintage Tall "Derby Posies" Mik Jug - Royal Crown Derby

SOLD

Relatively tall fluted milk jug in what appears to be the Derby Posies design by Royal Crown Derby. It has the cypher for 1979 on the base and is in very good condition. The backstamp has been deliberately scratched so it is very possibly a second. Close examination reveals a small imperfection in the lining on the handle, a stray brushmark below the pattern on one side and it is also missing the pattern name. Still very presentable though

Large Yellow and Ochre Jug - Govancroft Stoneware - Retro Scottish

1950's (possibly earlier) era large jug by Govancroft Stoneware of Glasgow. It is yellow and ochre with a ribbed base and art deco inspired handle. Very utilitarian but nicely retro. Unfortunately it has had a run in with some paint and there are a few spatters here and there, mainly inside. Otherwise it appears to be fine.

Large Blue Pitcher - Emile Henry - France

SOLD

Large blue jug or pitcher by Emile Henry of France. It is not a recent design, the logo has changed slightly and I believe thay now use an embossed "badge" on the body many of their wares instead of a backstamp, but it is in excellent condition.

Measurements are approximate: 19cm x 18cm across handle

Vintage Large Copper Lustre Albert Hallam Jug 1553-1 - Beswick

Vintage 1950s Albert Hallam designed jug in copper lustre on black. Largest size of the series, conical in shape with a sloping spout. It has the pattern number 1553-1, the 1 being the size. It's in pretty good condition with only a little bit of wear to the lustre around the base and spout. There are also a few little paint spatters but these do pick off fairly easily and most are now gone.

Dimensions: 17.3cm x 15cm
