Vintage Stoneware Salt & Pepper Pots

Stoneware salt and pepper pots in retro 1970s brown and green glaze. They are decorated with a band of chevrons. The pepper pot has an odd indentation along the edge that looks as though it's been there since it was made and escaped being glazed but are otherwise in great condition. They will need new bungs.

Vintage Stoneware Posy Basket - Moira Hillstonia

The Hillstonia range of planters and pots was produced by the Moira pottery in Burton for many years during the 50 year life of the pottery from 1922. This is a plain stoneware posy basket, unglazed on the outside, part clear glazed on the inside. There is a number on the base, part of which is 552, the first figure being indistinct. Vintage Green Stoneware Mug - B R Stoneware, Burton

SOLD

Large heavy mug in green slip glazed stoneware by BR Stoneware of Burton. There isn't much information about B R Stoneware out there but it does seem to confuse some people with some calling it Bretby. The Bretby backstamp is fundamentally different although whether there is a connection, I don't know. In lovely condition though and full of character.

Measurements are approximate: 9.5cm x 11.5cm max diameter incl handle

Large stoneware wine flagon, very much in imitation of the ware made by Tremar Pottery of Cornwall, even down to the leather thong around the handle. In good condition although it will need a cork stopper.

Vintage Small Stoneware Planter - Vitry Ware

Small planter with three embossed lines of dots. It bears the Vitry Ware stamp on the base although this is no guarantee of vintage. It has a few smudges and marks but no chips or cracks.

Stoneware Studio Pottery Sugar Bowl or Preserve Pot

SOLD

Very nice stoneware sugar bowl or jam/preserve pot in a dark green/khaki glaze and slotted lid. It is marked on the base but I have been unable to trace the potter. It doesn't look to have been used although the glaze is crazed on the inside.

Vintage Studio Pottery Sauce Pot

Great little stoneware sauce pot in a studio pottery style although there is no clue as to the potter. Unusually, rather than a slotted lid, the slot is in the body. It has a mottled dark duck egg blue lid and plain body with a slip "smear". Great condition.

Vintage Pierced Candle Bowl - Dianne Sanders - Broadstairs Pottery

Beautiful large stoneware candle bowl in the shape of a large brandy balloon pierced with circular holes and cat's eye slits. It's by Dianne Sanders from the Broadstairs Pottery in Kent. It has a few marks on but nothing serious and nothing that won't remove, such as the pencil price on the base and apart from these is in excellent condition.

Small Stoneware Dish 210 M2/21 - Buchan

Lovely small handpainted stoneware dish or pin tray. I'm not sure of the pattern, it appears to be oak leaves with blue and red flowers. The mark on the base is the standard Buchan Portobello Thistle mark with 210 M2/21. In excellent condition.

Vintage - Antique Stoneware Cream Pot - Birmingham Dairy Co Ltd.

SOLD

Small two-handled stoneware jar, stamped on the base "Birmingham Dairy Company Limited". I would imagine from the size it's probably for cream but that's guesswork, as is its age as BDC Ltd ran from 1881 and was dissolved in 2005 and apart from these dates there is little information. It is though in good condition with no chips or stains.

Small Studio Pottery Stoneware Flagon - Rookes Pottery, Ipstones

Small but pleasingly heavy khaki coloured flagon from the Rookes Pottery of Ipstones in the Peak District. I think the pottery may have now ceased production although there is a shop and gallery on the site. In excellent condition although the cork will need replacing.

Vintage Stoneware Chalice Style Goblet - St Keyne Pottery

Small chalice style stoneware goblet by St Keyne Pottery of Liskeard, Cornwall. I can find very little about this pottery other than some other pictures and this appears to be very much a house style with slip glaze and indented letter shapes. It's a nice piece though and in excellent condition.

Vintage Stoneware Beef Dripping Jar - Pearson's of Chesterfield

SOLD

Small beige stoneware kitchen storage beef dripping jar. Fill it up with the juices from the roast and smear it on some lovely hot crusty white bread for Grandad's favourite healthy tea. Or just store pencils in it. Pearson's ceased production in 1994 so their wares are becoming more difficult to find in good condition. This however is in a fine state.

Stoneware Wall Plaque with Relief Design - The Glen Pottery

SOLD

Lovely stoneware wall plaque featuring a relief of four pots, berries and some burlap drapery. The pots can be used as dried flower vases should you wish (indeed, there is some old oasis still in them which I will leave in as shock absorber for dispatch). The back has been predrilled for hanging and is stamped with the pottery indent. Please note, this is very heavy, around 1.4kg so will require a substantial fixing. There isn't much info on the pottery out there, the favourite location appears to be Gillingham in Dorset but even that's guesswork. If anyone knows for sure, I'd love to know. In beautiful condition.
