Vintage Welsh Language Sugar Bowl - Tregaron Pottery

Stoneware sugar bowl by Tregaron Pottery. It supposedly has the Welsh for sugar written on one side - rather it has "siwgwr" written on it, whereas I believe the correct spelling is "siwgr". Any Welsh speakers care to enlighten me?  In excellent condition though.

Vintage Pale Blue and White Tubelined Sugar Bowl - Gray's Pottery

Lovely vintage sugar bowl, plain white with pale blue top half and gold bands around the middle and rim. The blue half is studded with raised tubelined white dots. Grays often bought in blank ware to decorate and this one is no exception as it was originally a piece of Johnson Brothers Pareek as the mark can be seen beneath the Gray's backstamp. The edge line around the rim is a little worn and there is a tiny chip in the footring but otherwise it looks excellent.

Vintage "Astra" Sugar Bowl - Crown Ducal

Sugar Bowl in the "Astra" pattern by Crown Ducal. In tan with circular designs and white drip glaze, it has the Crown Ducal stamp and the diamond shaped AG Richardson stamp on the base. The marque ended in 1974 so this is 1960s/70s vintage - another pattern presumably inspired by Portmeirion's Totem design. In excellent condition.

Please note this is "Astra" as opposed to the similar "Concorde Astra".

Vintage Yellow and Gold Lined Bone China Sugar Bowl - Aynsley

Bone china sugar bowl by Aynsley. Yellow outside, white inside with gilded scalloped rim and foot, it is not of recent vintage as the mark is not the current syle. The lid in the picture came with it when I acquired it but it isn't original as the glaze is slightly lighter, it doesn't really sit correctly and the hole in the lid suggests it's really from a tea or coffee pot. Let me know if you want it - it shouldn't affect postage. Otherwise the bowl is in fine condition with no major marks or wear.

Vintage Hand Painted Sugar Bowl - Toni Raymond Pottery

Small sugar bowl by Toni Raymond Pottery, handpainted in an orange speckle. I'm not sure if it had a lid at one time but it will survive without one. There is a small chip on the underside of the rim that barely notices and otherwise it's in very good condition,

Stoneware Studio Pottery Sugar Bowl or Preserve Pot

SOLD

Very nice stoneware sugar bowl or jam/preserve pot in a dark green/khaki glaze and slotted lid. It is marked on the base but I have been unable to trace the potter. It doesn't look to have been used although the glaze is crazed on the inside.

Vintage "Patricia" Honeyglaze Bomb Sugar Bowl - A.J Wilkinson - Art Deco

Bomb shaped sugar bowl in the gold chintz Patricia design by AJ Wilkinson Ltd. Some have linked the shape to Clarice Cliff and she certainly worked at Wilkinson's at the time and produced work with similar elements. Regardless, it's in excellent condition with very little wear. No id - if ever there was one.

Vintage Bone China Sugar Bowl - H/116 - Adderley

Gold rimmed glossy green bone china sugar bowl. White interior, gilded edge with very small scallops, another gold line below the edge and on the footring. There is a number written on the base, which could be H/116 or 4/116. The backstamp dates from post 1947, the date of this I think around the early 1950s. There are a small number of minor marks on the outside glaze and there are a couple of worn spots on the gilding but it is still a very nice looking bowl.

Studio Pottery Sugar Bowl - Moorland - Sheep Design - Caroline Smith, Abbot Pottery

Beautiful slip decorated sugar bowl by Caroline Smith of the Abbot Pottery, Newton Abbot Devon. It's in her hugely popular and highly collectable Moorland (or "sheep") design, this example dating from pre 1995 if the telephone number on the label is anything to go by! Some crazing but otherwise perfect.

Vintage Green Sugar Bowl - Poole

I'm a little confused by this Poole open sugar bowl. I've not really been able to pin down the  colourway; it's Twintone style but the colours don't quite match anything in the Twintone range as far as I can see, being a sage green and plain white (the colour is quite close to the general picture here, not the close up). 1967-72 mark. It's in excellent condition.

Yellow Azalea Sugar Bowl - British Anchor

Yellow sugar bowl with hessian textured surface and floral relief pattern by British Anchor Pottery. The pattern name is Azalea. Unable to age it accurately - it could be pre- or post WW2 but however old it is it's in excellent condition.

Vintage Silverine Devon Ware Georgian Sugar Bowl - Fieldings Crown Devon

The backstamp dates this to between 1917 & 1930 or thereabouts. It's a Devon Ware Silverine finish double handled sugar bowl in the Georgian shape by Fieldings. It has very few marks with a little crazing to the plain surfaces and only very minimal wear to some of the raised edges. The matt black handle finish looks almost new. There is a small chip to the foot ring but this isn't visible in normal use.

Vintage Hand Painted Art Deco Wild Rose Small Sugar Bowl - John Beswick

SOLD

Small hand painted oval sugar bowl from the Wild Rose range by John Beswick. This has been extremely difficult to date without reference books as it doesn't come up very often on the internet. Whether this is an indication of rarity, we cannot say. The best we can come up with is pre-1938 and the condition and style would seem to bear this out. It has some crazing and there's a small graze on the rim although this can't really be called a chip. there are a couple of small flakes of colour missing from the decoration but by and large it's fine.

Dimensions: 7.5cm x 5cm x 4cm
