Large Glazed Earthenware Flat Plate or Stand

Unusual large dinner plate sized flate plate or stand glazed with several drips applied while the plate was spinning. Not sure of its provenance but it's a smashing looking thing and will work as a pot stand or decorative plaque.

Vintage Studio Pottery Vase

Unusually shaped heavy earthenware vase in cream with yellow and green streaks. The glaze is a bit thin in places and has cracked and whether this is deliberate or not I can't obviously tell but it's an interesting effect nonetheless. Still a good looking vase. No potter's mark.

Small Antique Earthenware Lidded Jug - Possibly Doulton or Gibsons

SOLD

Small reddish brown earthenware jug with hinged pewter lid. It has a couple of marks on the base, a P and a 2 but no maker's name. It is similar in shape to some of the Doulton Lambeth jugs of the late 19th & early 20th centuries but it could be from anyone, the style being very common. It's in excellent condition though, although the thumbrest from the lid has broken off. Still a great looking piece.

Handmade Studio Pottery Jug - Taurus Studio

Neat little green-brown earthenware jug by the "Taurus Studio" of Weston Park. I'm not sure where Weston Park is though and while I can find several ventures with Taurus in the name I can't find this! It may be Stoke on Trent as it's nearby to where I sourced this but it could be anywhere. It is labelled but not marked and in excellent condition.

Small Earthenware Pot - Zambia

Small earthenware pot with a blue speckled glaze interior. It is slightly irregular and has impressed patterns in the style of ethnic decorated pottery on the outside surface. it is incised "Zambia" on the base. It is possibly a souvenir piece from that country but in reality could be from anywhere so I make no claims otherwise. It is though a pleasing piece.

Miniature Studio Earthenware Pottery Jug - Geoffrey Small

Exquisite little earthenware jug with a white wash and brushwork flower head in brown. It also has a brown design on the small base. It is stamped "G.S.". The general consensus seems to be that this is Geoffrey Small who potted out of Luton until 2002. It is in excellent condition. 5.5cm x 8cm (across handle)

Vintage Studio Pottery Candle Holder & Posy Ring - Alice Palser

SOLD

Lovely small posy ring style candle holder in cream glazed earthenware with brown edging. It's by Alice Palser, who now concentrates more on figurative ornamental sculpture rather than pottery. The centre is conical with a small flat base so should fit the classic, slender style of candle with the chamfered ends. In excellent condition.

Antique Ceramic Inhaler

SOLD

Vintage/antique "Improved Inhaler". Large white earthenware bulb with cork stopper and glass mouthpiece, used for treating asthma and other respiratory ailments. These were produced for many years from the Victoria era onwards and by several manufacturers. This one is unmarked and I cannot age it accurately. The stopper is in most parts complete, only a little has flaked away from the top and I have not removed it. I have though slid out and cleaned the mouthpiece. This is complete and undamaged bar a little wear around the crimped top part. The bulb is in perfect condition.

Vintage Earthenware Jug - Lakes Cornish Pottery

SOLD

Simple plain earthenware/terracotta jug from the renowned Lakes Pottery of Truro. It's unglazed on the outside but clear glazed inside meaning it can be used. Make the outside wet and as the water evaporates it will keep the contents cool, too. A couple of marks on the outside from handling and the glaze is a little crazed but otherwise fine. Lakes closed in 1992 so these are becoming more collectable.

Vintage Small Caramel Coloured Jug

Beautiful little earthenware cream jug in a caramel coloured glaze with darker brown handle and rim. It is unmarked but I have had something of a similar finish and I think that may have been from a Devon pottery, It is crazed but there are no cracks or nips.

Vintage Earthenware Milk Jug with Lid

Excellent tall earthenware milk jug with pewter lid. It has a salmon pink band around the middle otherwise it's natural red earthenware with clear glaze. The lid is more or less perfect; the hinge works well and is not loose. The band around the rim is well secured and the knob on the top has very little wear. Apart from some all over crazing this is in exceptionally good condition. It is though unmarked so I have no clue as to the maker.

Antique Treacle Glazed Milk Jug - Staffordshire?

SOLD

Very nice treacle glazed earthenware milk jug, possibly from Staffordshire or the Derbyshire potteries. It has two bands of dots around it and stepped sides. I can't make out the name on the base but "Fire" is just discernible, as is "British" but no amount of magnification or tampering with the pictures has revealed any more. I do though believe I have encountered one before and feel I really ought to know the name as I do this for a living! I also suspect it's around 100 years old; the glaze and design suggesting such, although as always I am open to correction and clarification. Bar a little barely visible crazing it's in excellent condition.
