Vintage Green Stoneware Mug - B R Stoneware, Burton
SOLD
Large heavy mug in green slip glazed stoneware by BR Stoneware of Burton. There isn't much information about B R Stoneware out there but it does seem to confuse some people with some calling it Bretby. The Bretby backstamp is fundamentally different although whether there is a connection, I don't know. In lovely condition though and full of character.
Measurements are approximate: 9.5cm x 11.5cm max diameter incl handle

Large Glazed Earthenware Flat Plate or Stand
Unusual
large dinner plate sized flate plate or stand glazed with several drips
applied while the plate was spinning. Not sure of its provenance but
it's a smashing looking thing and will work as a pot stand or decorative
plaque.
27cm diameter

Tremar Pottery of Cornwall, even down to the leather thong around the

Large 23cm Antique Stoneware Ink Bottle Size 6 - Doulton Lambeth
Very
large dark brown salt glazed stoneware ink bottle by Doulton Lambeth.
The
oval Doulton stamp bears an impressed 6. There is a small chip just
above the base and a couple more on the base as one might expect of a
bottle of this vintage but it still presents very well. Fine item and
would make a great ornament or unusual single stem vase

Large and Heavy Wooden Vase or Planter
SOLD
13cm x 17cm (d)
Large wooden vase or planter, hand turned by I would imagine a hobbyist, despite the old label on the base (the address no longer exists, the site is now occupied by a health centre). The bowl is impressively heavy as in fact it's almost solid, the inside having only been hollowed out by the width of the internal neck diameter (approx 6.5cm and 9cm deep, as opposed to the 13cm total height. The neck is well turned and fairly smooth, the body rather less so although the shape is pleasing to the eye. There are a couple of cracks on one side but they don't appear too serious although one does extend a couple of inches into the body. In some respects it is unfinished and would I think suit another hobbyist or turner as there is plenty of wood left to work. I'm not sure of the timber - possibly oak.

Large Studio Pottery Stoneware Candle Holder
Quite wide and
heavy stoneware candle holder in a studio pottery style. There is a mark
on the base of the foot but it's unidentifiable. Will fit a thicker
than average candle, about 3.5cm thick. In excellent condition although
it has been used and there may be some wax residue.

Vintage Handpainted Greenwheat Dinner Plate - Albert Colledge - Denby
Large dinner plate in the iconic hand painted "Greenwheat" pattern. This design on some china replacements sites has been wrongly attributed to Glyn Colledge whereas it was the work of his father, Albert, in the mid 1950s. Indeed, the plate bears the signature of Albert Colledge. Greenwheat was produced from 1956 until 1977 so this item is at least 37 years old. It is in excellent condition with only the faintest of marks.
25.5cm

Vintage Large Green Celtic Mug - Arklow Pottery, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
SOLD
Very large mug by the now defunct Arklow Pottery of Co. Wicklow, Eire. Very Celtic inspired design with lots of intertwining, knotting and plaiting. I feel I ought to know what the image is, maybe someone out there can enlighten me. Arklow went under in the late 1990s so these are becoming rare. Apart from a little staining on the inside bottom, that will remove with a bit of effort (I've cleaned it up quite a bit), it's in excellent condition. Very nice looking object.

Rustic Handthrown Mug - Moffat Pottery - Gerry Lyons - The Singing Potter
Quite
a large and very rustically styled mug with heavy grooves rough
partially unglazed exterior. It is by Gerry Lyons, "The Singing Potter"

Vintage Large Shallow Stoneware Planter
SOLD
Large shallow stoneware bowl or more likely, planter. I have no idea of the age, it may be quite vintage although it has a vague similarity to some of the Hartley's of Castleford stoneware of the 50s and 60s. It has what appears to be the residue from some kind of decoration - perhaps it was painted at one time, either sold as such or at a later date. It's otherwise in very good condition and still very useful.

Vintage 1950s Jasper Style Relief & Gold Lustre Jug - Gibsons
Large
gold lustre jug with blue & white jasper style relief band. Dates
from the 50s and has some age related wear, mainly partial loss of
gilding to the bottom 4cm or so and the handle, crazing to the inside
and on the blue band and also a short, faint hairline crack running for
about 3cm into the band. It is still a nice looking decorative object
and could easily serve as a vase.

Vintage Novelty Face Celery Storage Jar - Sadler
SOLD
Large green novelty celery jar with a smiley celery face by Sadler. It is pretty much faultless apart from a little crazing and what looks to be an original crack on the rim above the "C", original in that it appears glazed. The inside is cracked in the same area but again, this appears to be a surface and doesn't extend to the edges. Nice looking novelty jar for the dinner table.

Vintage Yellow "Salad Ware" Plate 1617/6 - Carlton Ware
Large salad ware dish, pattern 1617/6 in plain yellow.
It is unmarked on the back apart from an impressed 1617/6, which is a
Carlton pattern (and I've had one before!). There are a couple of small
and well disguised chips on the square end and some of the edges are a
little worn (the darker marks) but some careful cleaning may be able to
remove some of these if they are stains. Additional, the colour in real
life is rather brighter and a bit more yellow than in the pictures.

Large Wooden Fruit Bowl
SOLD
Large and solid wooden fruit bowl. Stained tan with a lovely grain. There are a few scratch marksand a couple of very small dents, mainly to the inside, and some red ink stains on the surface of the bowl. If you're up to it, a few hours work with some wire wool and a bottle of varnish will have this restored very nicely.
