Studio Pottery Stoneware Oil or Vinegar Bottle

Another mystery item. It's a hand thrown stoneware oil or vinegar bottle in pale yellow tinged speckled top half going through light brown to unglazed base. It is marked, with what appears to be an impressed on its side. This looks familiar but I can't identify it from my references. Any help gratefully received! Unfortunately no stopper but otherwise in excellent condition.

Studio Pottery Bon Bon Dish

Nice bon-bon dish in a studio pottery style with tenmoku style yellowish glaze overbrown and a swirled incised line below the rim. It's marked on the foot "L.GK" but I can't identify this  The flat base is slightly off-centre and the foot ring has been ground flat plus there's a little firing crack in the rim but otherwise it's a nice piece.

Bell Shaped Studio Pottery Vase

Very pretty bell shaped vase in purple shades and blue with impressed marks in a random pattern. It has a mark on the base, incised in cursive script that looks like it begins with a Q or a stylised R but it's difficult to really work it out. Lovely item though and great condition (apart from some wax residue, I think it may have been used as a candleholder)

Small Handpainted Studio Pottery Bowl

Nice red earthenware bowl or ashtray in yellow glaze with handpainted grass detail. It is marke don the base with what appears to be a vase or flask containing an inverted 5, a mark I've not been able to identify. Apart from some crazing it's in excellent condition.

Large Studio Pottery Stoneware Jug

Rather intriguing looking stoneware jug, the shape of which is quite reminiscent of a bottle kiln. It has an unusual spout attached below the top and a large comfortable handle. There does appear to be a mark at the base of the handle but it is completely illegible unfortunately. If anyone is familiar with the shape and knows the potter - contact me! Nice looking piece in excellent condition.

Studio Pottery Tea Light Holder - Orkney Pottery

Ornate tealight holder with oriental stylings. It has been used and there is a little soot and wax residue here and there but I will try and remove this before sale. Otherwise it's in very good condition.

Vintage Studio Pottery Vase

Unusually shaped heavy earthenware vase in cream with yellow and green streaks. The glaze is a bit thin in places and has cracked and whether this is deliberate or not I can't obviously tell but it's an interesting effect nonetheless. Still a good looking vase. No potter's mark.

Studio Pottery Stoneware Storage Jar - Muchelney Pottery

A lot of interest in this one already - A splendid stoneware storage jar by John Leach's Muchelney Pottery on the Somerset Levels. It's not their current toasted finish, rather a speckled creamy wash but the shape is the same, down to the distinctive score line around the centre. Needless to say, it's in excellent condition.

Very nice stoneware sugar bowl or jam/preserve pot in a dark green/khaki glaze and slotted lid. It is marked on the base but I have been unable to trace the potter. It doesn't look to have been used although the glaze is crazed on the inside.

Vintage Studio Pottery Sauce Pot

Great little stoneware sauce pot in a studio pottery style although there is no clue as to the potter. Unusually, rather than a slotted lid, the slot is in the body. It has a mottled dark duck egg blue lid and plain body with a slip "smear". Great condition.

Unusual Studio Pottery Spiky Stoneware Pot

Really unusal stoneware pot. Highly textured with rows of blunted spikes, it resembles a cross between a durian fruit and a F1 car tyre. The glaze is blue and brown and it comes with a lid (which I have to admit, is pretty poorly fitting owing to the lack of a decent rim). It is signed on the base but I can't really make it out. It looks like Pat Ford or Hart although I can't find a potter of this name in my books. In excellent condition.

Large Japanese Style Studio Pottery Teapot

Large capacity teapot, about the size of a small watermelon, in a very Japanese inspired design. I am unsure of its provenance. It is unmarked but someone has written "Jap Portreath Pottery" on the base in blue marker. I can find no reference to a pottery in Portreath so it's a bit of a mystery. The design is a fairly common one, used by many studios so no clues there, either. It has loops each side of the lid for a bamboo or wicker handle so a degree of craftmanship will be required to make this serviceable but in all other respects it's in excellent condition.

Small Hand Made Candle Holder - Fursbreck Pottery, Orkney

Small green glazed studio pottery candle holder by Fursbreack Pottery of Orkney. Assymetrical handle is decorated with relief cricle patter which is repeated on the sleeve for the candle. This, by the way, will take a candle of around 1.5cm. Stamped to the base, in excellent condition.

Studio Pottery Sugar Bowl - Moorland - Sheep Design - Caroline Smith, Abbot Pottery

Beautiful slip decorated sugar bowl by Caroline Smith of the Abbot Pottery, Newton Abbot Devon. It's in her hugely popular and highly collectable Moorland (or "sheep") design, this example dating from pre 1995 if the telephone number on the label is anything to go by! Some crazing but otherwise perfect.
