German Decorative Stein - Schilz

German stoneware beer mug/stein by Schilz of Höhr-Grenzhausen. It is in a speckled brown finish with brown and blue swags and incidental decoration. I have no idea of the date - Post 1952 when the logo was adopted and probably post reunification so I have cautiously opted for 1990s. Apart from a couple of stains on the inside it's in excellent condition.

Vintage Art Deco Cream Jug HW 181 - Myott

Small hand painted art deco ware cream jug in the HW 181 pattern by Myott, Son & Co. The backstamp is the Gold Crown Made in England mark used between 1930 and 1942. There is some wear around the rim but the large patch of missing yellow appears to be underglaze.

7.5cm x 10cm

Vintage Pale Blue Double Handled Fine Stone Bowl - Copeland Spode

Vintage pale blue double handled fine stone bowl. I am no expert on Spode and I am unsure of the shape or age. However, there is no date mark and I do believe that one was omitted in 1981, which may be a clue. It's in excellent condition bar two small marks, a dark one and a short yellow line, both on the same side and both appear to be underglaze.

Set of Three Painted Glass Bottles

I suspect these are home-made but they are quite nice objects nevertheless. A set of three small bottles, two green and one blue - all with corks and painted with a tube-lined gold floral design. A nice group of objects in their present state but could also be cleaned up and repainted.

Material: Glass

Small Lidded Pot - Warmingham Mill Pottery

SOLD

Very nice round lidded pot by Warmingham Mill Pottery of Warmingham near Crewe, Cheshire. It has two small handles and the lid has a hole, either to let air in or heat out - your call! The pottery stamp is impressed below one of the handles - this was not always the case as much of their output is identifiable by their brown and blue stylised leaf decoration. It is in excellent condition.

Vintage Large Grey Lustre Jug with Crimped Handle - Prinknash

SOLD

Large milk jug by Prinknash in their familiar grey lustre finish. The handle and footring are unusual in that they have a crimped finish and although there are probably plenty of these about, it is the first time I have encountered this particular detail - and I have sold a lot of Prinknash! There are a few small marks but nothing serious and it is largely in excellent condition

Large Vintage Leaves Jug/Sauce Boat - Royal Doulton

Vintage Royal Doulton jug or sauce boat. I think it dates from the late 1930s but I have not yet been able to find a name for the pattern, which is russet coloured leaves over a curlicue background on a cream base. The handle is stepped on the underside of the top join. The mark is the standard post 1932 one with 13 either side of the crown and a Q underneath. Decorator's mark, D5921. Condition is good althought there are some slight rough edges and a couple of tiny cracks around the rim and the pattern appears worn in a couple of places. The foot ring is ingrained with dust.

Pair of Vintage Stoneware Oil & Vinegar Bottles - Buchan Stoneware

A pair of oil and vinegar bottles by Buchan Stoneware. The shape is the familiar 256/5 and the colour code M1 for matt white. I don't know the 131 pattern though, which is yellow vertical lines with brown dots and lines. The stoppers and corks are missing but otherwise they are in excellent condition.

Large Stoneware Carafe and Goblet Set - Warmingham Mill Pottery

SOLD

Eyecatching large (around 1 litre) stoneware carafe (with ceramic stopper) and 4 matching goblets. They are unmarked but I am almost certain they are from Warmingham Mill Pottery, very local to me here in Crewe, Cheshire. Their wares weren't always marked but the colouring, base and decoration are identical to items I have seen and sold in the past. The main decoration colour is brown and blue although there is more blue on a couple of items than the others. A stunning table centrepiece.

Carafe: 23cm x 15cm
Goblets: 14.5cm x 8cm

Vintage Handpainted Blue Vase - Dragon Pottery Rhayader

Mid-sized vase by the popular and highly collectable Dragon Pottery of Rhayader, Wales. This is in the less common blue colouring. It is crazed, as is fairly usual, but someone has stood a pink felt-tip pen inside it and the stain has spread through the crazing and the base resulting in a penny sized pink smudge on the underside as well as a stain inside. Can't see it in normal usage though but it may indicate that it won't be that good at holding water. Dried flowers only!

Small Light Wooden Bowl

Simple lightweight and light coloured wooden bowl, ideal for snacks or sweets. Very nicely grained. It has a couple of small surface marks, many of which look to be removable although there is a small area of light scratches but all in all it's in very good condition.

Blue and Yellow Glass Paperweight - Molina

SOLD

Pretty heavy glass slightly oval ball paperweight with blue and yellow star pattern and signed "Molina" on the base. It's about the size of a tennis ball with a flattened base. There is one small chip to the surface about 2/3 up, which is a shame, but otherwise it's in very good condition.

Vintage Small Grey Lustre Vase - Prinknash Abbey Pottery

Vintage Miniature Fluted Sugar "Sunbuff" Sugar Bowl - Grays Pottery

SOLD

Beautiful hand painted sugar bowl in the "Sunbuff" pattern by Gray's Pottery. It is on a fluted buff coloured blank from Johnson Brothers, the stamp for which can be seen beneath the Gray's mark. Quite legitimate as Gray's were decorator's and occasionally their base items were already stamped. This can aid in dating and the combination here puts this to between 1935 & 1945. It's in excellent condition.

Novelty Holey Cheese Knife - Culinary Concepts

SOLD

Boxed and unused novelty stainless steel cheese knife in the form of a slice of holey cheese with a leaf on the handle. Indeed, it is called "Leaf Holey Cheese Knife" and in that respect there is little else to add except that it is by Culinary Concepts of London and is in the original box, unused. Apparently best suited for soft cheese.

Vintage Scottish Pottery Green & Purple Thistle Jug

Mid sized purple and green jug in the shape of a thistle. Variations on the pattern have been used by many of the Scottish potteries, including Govancroft and West Highland Pottery; this one though is just marked "Made in Scotland" on the base. Vintage German Drip Glaze Earthenware Jug

SOLD

Small gold lined pale green and black jug shaped posy vase from Germany. 1950s/1960s era marked with the form number 520 and 8,5 which, in common with most German ware, signifies the height in cm. No maker's mark. Some light surface marks and a couple of small chips in the base. One is under the footring and barely noticeable, the other rather more on the top of the base across the gold line. It has some water staining inside so has been used.

Hand Made East African Bao or Mancala Game

SOLD

This is a small hand made version of the traditional East African mancala type game of "bao". It is four rows of eight pits with 64 "seeds". It is made from a heavy wood that has, I think, been stained black to resemble ebony (there is a little knock to one end through which a much lighter wood is showing). The two sides are hinged together and each is carved with a stylised elephant and trees. It has a pleasing rustic feel while no doubt having been made for the souvenir trade. There should be 64 seeds although there are only 45 present here. I dare say some spares would not be hard to come by. There are also no rules but a quick search of the internet reveals there are several forms of the game and a set of rules shouldn't be too hard to come by.  Overall general condition is very good and it's a nice piece to sit on the sideboard.

Vintage Grey Lustre Vase - Prinknash

Beautiful hand thrown spherical vase by Prinknash Abbey Pottery in their popular grey lustre glaze. It has the black ink round backstamp and although there is no real guide to dating Prinknash ware I would imagine this to be of fairly decent vintage - early 1960 perhaps.

Vintage Candle Holder and Posy Ring - Jersey Pottery

White earthenware posy ring candle holder with hand painted aquamarine and green design in what is very much the Jersey style of leaf shaped outlines. The base is unglazed and "Jersey Pottery C.I." is inscribed, alongside an "M" shaped potter's or decorator's mark.

Vintage German or Austrian Squat Double Handled Pot

Hand painted two handled pot with the base mark "2978" in what appears to be a German or Austrian style. It's quite squat so would be ideal for large posies and apart from what looks to be original shrinkage of the colour around the rim, is in excellent condition.

Leatherette Covered Wooden Trinket Box - For Refurb

Small fibreboard treasure chest shaped trinket box. It has a leather effect covering with an elasticated lace lattice across the lid and the front of the base. It is lined inside with brown flock covered paper. Let's be honest here, the brass clasp and hinges are the best bit of it. The covering is starting to come unstuck and the laces won't last much longer. But...although it is basically a cheap chipboard box with a thin bit of veneer on the base, it is quite sound and the hinges and clasp are very good. A craft hobbyist could really do something with this (and if this is your intention - I'd love to see a picture of the finished results)14cm x 10cm x 8.5cm

Vintage Hand Painted Art Deco Wild Rose Small Sugar Bowl - John Beswick

SOLD

Small hand painted oval sugar bowl from the Wild Rose range by John Beswick. This has been extremely difficult to date without reference books as it doesn't come up very often on the internet. Whether this is an indication of rarity, we cannot say. The best we can come up with is pre-1938 and the condition and style would seem to bear this out. It has some crazing and there's a small graze on the rim although this can't really be called a chip. there are a couple of small flakes of colour missing from the decoration but by and large it's fine.

Vintage "Bermuda" Cup and Saucer Set - Lord Nelson Pottery

Cup and saucer pair in the Bermuda design of rustic green and brown panels from the Lord Nelson Pottery. There is what appears to be a date stamp on the base of the saucer, 4-70, which if it is indeed a date would be of the right vintage. There are a couple of very small scratches to the panels but otherwise they are in very good condition.

Cup: 7cm x 10.5cm across handle
Saucer: 15.5cm
