Pair of hand Turned Wooden Candle Holders - JT Adams

A pair of hand turned wooden candle holders in a quite heavily grained dark brown coloured (probably stained) timber. They look identical at first glance but there are subtle differences in height and detail. Marked on the base "JT Adams", which should provide a few surprises in a vanity search. A few little marks here and there but still good.

Each approx: 11cm x 7.5cm (d)

Large and Heavy Wooden Vase or Planter

SOLD

Large wooden vase or planter, hand turned by I would imagine a hobbyist, despite the old label on the base (the address no longer exists, the site is now occupied by a health centre). The bowl is impressively heavy as in fact it's almost solid, the inside having only been hollowed out by the width of the internal neck diameter (approx 6.5cm and 9cm deep, as opposed to the 13cm total height. The neck is well turned and fairly smooth, the body rather less so although the shape is pleasing to the eye. There are a couple of cracks on one side but they don't appear too serious although one does extend a couple of inches into the body. In some respects it is unfinished and would I think suit another hobbyist or turner as there is plenty of wood left to work. I'm not sure of the timber - possibly oak.

13cm x 17cm (d)

Small Hand Turned Wooden Mushroom

A small hand turn wooden mushroom. It's a single piece, no glue or join, from an unknown dark wood. There are a few knot holes and a couple of small drying cracks and it looks as though there are some water stains on the dome. However it occurred to me this may be deliberate in order to imitate fly agaric spots as there are none on the stalk. The base has a patch of green felt affixed to it.

7.5cm x 8cm (H)

Hand Turned Burr Wood Bowl

Small bowl, hand turned from what looks to be a burr wood of some kind. Interesting grain pattern around the sides as for the most part there is a diagonal grain that suddenly opposes, almost as if it's been cut in two. There is a small crack from the rim with the grainfor about an inch but it seems quite sturdy and is still a great looking piece. Green felt base.

11.5cm x 6.5cm x 5cm deep

Vintage Heavy Handmade Wooden Salad Bowl

SOLD

Large handmade wooden salad bowl from the tiny village of Croesgoch near St David's in Pembroke. It is quite a few years old, the phone number on the original label still on the base being only 3 numbers which would normally date the label at least to the mid-1970s. It's still in very reasonable condition although it could do with re-seasoning.

23.5cm x 10cm

Small Hand Turned Wooden Lidded Pot or Trinket Box

Small wooden lidded pot, hand turned and waxed although I don't know the timber. It's a little shallower than it looks, only 7cm deep inside. The base flares out and it also has a very faint neck before flaring slightly to the rim - not really apparent from the photos - so it's actually quite an interesting piece of work. A couple of drying cracks but otherwise in very good condition.

Measurements are approximate:13cm x 9cm base

Home Made Wooden Pot Pourri Bowl

SOLD

Flying saucer shaped pot pourri bowl with pewter butterfly lid. I suspect it's a home turned bowl as the centre hole is slightly eccentric and the lid is a bit of a squeeze to get in. If you have some DIY skills you will probably be able to improve the hole slightly. Otherwise, bar a few surface marks on the underside it's in very good condition.

19cm x 5cm

Small Wooden Lidded Trinket Box

Small round wooden trinket box with lid. It looks to be home turned rather than bought as while the finish is good on the outside (apart from some later surface marks and a ), it's a little rough on the inside. However, it's no less useful or attractive for it. It has a felt lining on the underside of the lid and some more on the base although that's started to fall away.

9.5cm x 7cm

Small Hand Turned Wooden Bud Vase

Beautiful slender necked bud vase hand turned by AGP Woodturning of Plymouth. I'm not sure of the timber but it's a lovely reddish brown. It does have a glass insert so can be used with water, albeit carefully. In almost perfect condition.
