Hand Turned Wooden Lidded Pot with Natural Bark Finish

SOLD

Unusual cylindrical pot turned from a section of trunk as it still features the bark. I can't identify the wood, a skill at which I am hopeless (it may be ash, I have been informed). It is quite close grained and has been stained although I think it's of some vintage as the stain has itelf become stained in places. The lid fits tightly but may be of a different wood. There are a couple of tiny marks around the edge of the lid and a few spots of paint on it but overall it's in very good condition and is an unusual piece to add to your collection.

Vintage Miniature Pink Lustre Pot or Cup - Carlton Ware

Beautiful little squat cup or handled bowl in a pink lustre finish by Carlton Ware. It has the standard "script" backstamp that was for around 60 years until the late 1980s. However, this one is very fine, almost as if it's been written on in pen and I have yet to come across one of this style. There is also a "GC" scratched into the base. There is some crazing, more visible on the inside. I have a hunch it is pre WWII although I cannot for certain say why! A lovely little item though and in very good condition.

One Person Sparkle Collection Tea/Coffee Set - Whittard

SOLD

Tea or coffee set made for Whittard of Chelsea comprising pot, one small mug, milk jug and lidded sugar bowl, all on a matching ceramic tray. It's from the Sparkle collection, a shimmering blue lustre with circle and star designs. The pot and sugar bowl have domed lids and there's enough in the pot for two modest brews. The design was released in 2003 and despite this being around ten years old it's in pretty much perfect condition and doesn't actually look used.

Tray: 19cm x 24.5cm
Pot: 15cm x 14cm across handle
Mug: 7.5cm x 11cm
Jug: 5.5cm x 7cm
Sugar bowl: 8.5cm x 6cm

Hand Carved Wooden Beaver

SOLD

Unusual but beautifully rendered beaver, hand carved from red cedar. Marvellous use of grain to emphasise the form and additionally the grain has not been smoothed so it's actually very tactile, rough when rubbed one way, smooth the other. Very nice detailed paws and other features.  There is a maker's name but it's partly obscured by an ancient piece of sticky tape. It's possibly "Carv... Co". There is also a scratched in "Nikk" who I take to be the artist. It's in excellent condition.

Hand Turned Wooden Vase

SOLD

Large urn-shaped wooden dried flower vase. I'm not certain of the wood although I've been told it may be walnut. It's been varnished so the natural colour is difficult to ascertain. The top has been flared out and chamfered square and scooped out on the straight edge with the same being done at 45 deg on the underside. It's almost certainly an amateur piece, some of the detailing is a little imprecise and the varnishing isn't great, with a couple of drips and uneven areas, but with a little attention and with a decent spray of dried flowers it will be an impressive looking piece.

Surfer Wear Pink VW Beetle Eggcup - Animal Clothing

Novelty advertising eggcup in the shape of a pink VW Beetle with a surfboard on the roof. Remove the board and the egg rests in the resultant depression with the surfboard doubling as a salt cellar. It is thoroughly emblazoned with the Animal Clothing logo and the numberplate is AN1 MAL. There is some dropout on the Animal logos in a couple of places but it is otherwise in excellent condition.

Wooden Pipe Shaped Ashtray

SOLD

Vintage ashtray shaped like a large bowled pipe. It's quite deep, with three grooves on the rim of the bowl. It has been used and although I have made it a little more respectable by removing a lot of tobacco and ash residue, a healthy patina still remains (as does a slight odour). Otherwise it's in very good condition.

Vintage Engraved Brass & Silver Plate Lidded Canister

SOLD

Small metal canister that is part silver plated and possibly brass plated. The base metal is white, possibly nickel and or steel. The base is stamped EPNS but the predominant colour is brass on the outside. The lid is hinged 3/4 of the way across and the finial is a soldier's crested helmet. There are two engraved panels, opposite each other. I have no idea of the age, some of the plating is worn and solder is showing in places although overall it is in very good condition and could be re-plated should you have the necessary equipment.

Pair of Vintage Candle Holders - Fruit - Royal Worcester Palissy

Pair of russet tinged candle holders from the Royale Collection Fruit by Royal Worcester Palissy. The backstamp I think is the pre-1974 version although I think they are 1970s vintge. They have been used and there is some slight wear to the gilding around the candle sockets but otherwise they are in very good condition and require only a wash and brush up.

Antique Treacle Glazed Milk Jug - Staffordshire?

SOLD

Very nice treacle glazed earthenware milk jug, possibly from Staffordshire or the Derbyshire potteries. It has two bands of dots around it and stepped sides. I can't make out the name on the base but "Fire" is just discernible, as is "British" but no amount of magnification or tampering with the pictures has revealed any more. I do though believe I have encountered one before and feel I really ought to know the name as I do this for a living! I also suspect it's around 100 years old; the glaze and design suggesting such, although as always I am open to correction and clarification. Bar a little barely visible crazing it's in excellent condition.

Large Wooden Fruit Bowl and Wooden Fruit - from Liberia

SOLD

This originally came from Liberia and is a rather nice shovel shaped bowl with ten individual fruits and veg, all hand carved by local artisans. I'm not sure about the fruits - there is what appears to be an apple, a maize cob, a pineapple and other indistinct items but it is nevertheless charming and a great talking point. It is in excellent condition.

Earthenware Studio Pottery Jam Pot

Small earthenware jam or marmalade pot with notched lid. Glossy cream and brown wash glaze with a resist flower design on opposite sides. It is unmarked and apart from a small mark on the rim, which is in relief rather than a chip and could be a spot of paint, it is in excellent condition.

Vintage Two-Tone Green Leaf Bowl - Carlton Ware

SOLD

Two tone green leaf shaped dish by Carlton Ware. It is pale and dark green on top, pale only on the underside. The backstamp is the standard "trade mark" one so it could be from any time up to 1987 but possibly between the 1950s and 1970s. It's in excellent condition.

Blue and Gold Miniature Rococo Jug - Meissner Limoges

SOLD

Swan Shaped Metal Ashtray

Small shiny silver metal ashtray in the shape of a swan. I can't vouch for the metal, the tray could be shiny stainless or possibly silver plated, and it has one groove rest at the tail. The moulded neck is slightly dull and does move slightly on the join but there's no danger of it being damaged. There are a couple of very small marks but otherwise it is in great condition.

Hand Turned Wooden Burr Bowl

SOLD

Very nice looking small bowl hand turned from a piece of burr wood, the identity of which I can't decide upon. The rim of the bowl has been left rough and the depth of the bark can be seen and it does indicate a largish mature tree with a deep, roughly textured bark - possibly chestnut or walnut. Being burr the surface isn't perfect with a few natural indentations and this can't be helped but it is nevertheless a striking piece in fine condition.
