Heavy
and bulbous narrow necked stoneware vase by Gerry Lyons, the "Singing
Potter" of Moffat in the Scottish Borders. It has an olive green glaze
over the top half and a circular swirl on each side. Much of his latter
work I believe is inscribed with Christian messages; this one is
unmarked. The glaze has dripped in one spot and there is a pre-firing
dent in one spot in addition to a couple of small white marks which will
probably come off with a bit of effort but it nevertheless has a rustic
charm. There is also something rattling around inside it - something I
will admit I have not made much of an effort to remove!
