Vintage Stoneware Vase - Pearson's of Chesterfield - RARE

Pearson's of Chesterfield also produced an art pottery range alongside their domestic stoneware. It's not easy to find but occasionally something does pop up and it's often a real treat. This is a very substantial vase in sage green bearing the post WWII backstamp. I believe the shape is technically termed a "hyperboloid" although as it appears hand thrown I suspect the underlying geometry was ignored by the potter.  It's in fantastic condition with only production blemishes in the very thick glaze.

17.5cm (h) x 12cm dia at base.
