Pearson's
of Chesterfield also produced an art pottery range alongside their
domestic stoneware. It's not easy to find but occasionally something
does pop up and it's often a real treat. This is a very substantial vase
in sage green bearing the post WWII backstamp. I believe the shape is
technically termed a "hyperboloid" although as it appears hand thrown I
suspect the underlying geometry was ignored by the potter.  It's in
fantastic condition with only production blemishes in the very thick
glaze.
