Vintage Mercedes Steering Wheel Shaped Bowl - Bond Ware

SOLD

Interesting three section ceramic snack bowl in the shape of a steering wheel, at the centre of which is the Mercedes three-pointed star. In each bowl there is a further racing themed image - helmet, chequered flag and a wheel. It's stamped "Foreign" on the base but the original importer's foil label, that of Bond Ware, is still affixed. Apart from a small chip on one of the arms it's in excellent condition and the chip is a small price to pay for an unusual piece of motoring kitsch.

Vintage Heavy Handmade Wooden Salad Bowl

SOLD

Large handmade wooden salad bowl from the tiny village of Croesgoch near St David's in Pembroke. It is quite a few years old, the phone number on the original label still on the base being only 3 numbers which would normally date the label at least to the mid-1970s. It's still in very reasonable condition although it could do with re-seasoning.

Small Hand Turned Wooden Lidded Pot or Trinket Box

Small wooden lidded pot, hand turned and waxed although I don't know the timber. It's a little shallower than it looks, only 7cm deep inside. The base flares out and it also has a very faint neck before flaring slightly to the rim - not really apparent from the photos - so it's actually quite an interesting piece of work. A couple of drying cracks but otherwise in very good condition.

Measurements are approximate:13cm x 9cm base

Vintage Miniature Bronze Lustre Jug - Prinknash

Small cream jug by Prinknash Abbey Pottery. It's in the less familiar bronze crackle lustre glaze and still has the original tag inside it. It appears to be in excellent condition - it is sometimes difficult to see if the rims on these are worn or not but the presence of the tag probably indicates it has sat on a shelf for years.

Home Made Wooden Pot Pourri Bowl

SOLD

Flying saucer shaped pot pourri bowl with pewter butterfly lid. I suspect it's a home turned bowl as the centre hole is slightly eccentric and the lid is a bit of a squeeze to get in. If you have some DIY skills you will probably be able to improve the hole slightly. Otherwise, bar a few surface marks on the underside it's in very good condition.

19cm x 5cm

Pair of Vintage White Metal or Silver Plated Fighting Cocks

SOLD

Pair of silver plated or white metal fighting cocks. Nice and shiny so it's quite possible they're silver plated. There's some verdigris around some of the vent holes so the base metal probably contains copper but the plating is good (although it does look as though a tiny bit has flaked off one of the feet. There is also a very short crack at one of the wing roots but this may well be original and is barely visible. They are in otherwise excellent condition.

Each one approx: 15cm x 15cm x 15cm

Small Wooden Lidded Trinket Box

Small round wooden trinket box with lid. It looks to be home turned rather than bought as while the finish is good on the outside (apart from some later surface marks and a ), it's a little rough on the inside. However, it's no less useful or attractive for it. It has a felt lining on the underside of the lid and some more on the base although that's started to fall away.

Small Antique Earthenware Lidded Jug - Possibly Doulton or Gibsons

SOLD

Small reddish brown earthenware jug with hinged pewter lid. It has a couple of marks on the base, a P and a 2 but no maker's name. It is similar in shape to some of the Doulton Lambeth jugs of the late 19th & early 20th centuries but it could be from anyone, the style being very common. It's in excellent condition though, although the thumbrest from the lid has broken off. Still a great looking piece.

Small Blue and White Ceramic Cauldron Money Box

SOLD

Small cauldron shaped ceramic money box in blue and white and bearing the mottos, "A penny saved is a penny earned" (Curiously punctuated) and "Home Sweet Home". It has a wire hanger and wide slot with rubber bung. It is of fairly decent vintage, several old coins, including a silver thruppeny bit and a few old pennies, having been removed from it prior to me acquiring it. It's in very good condition although I had to removed quite a bit of rust from the wire hanger.
