Stoneware Wall Plaque with Relief Design - The Glen Pottery

SOLD

Lovely stoneware wall plaque featuring a relief of four pots, berries and some burlap drapery. The pots can be used as dried flower vases should you wish (indeed, there is some old oasis still in them which I will leave in as shock absorber for dispatch). The back has been predrilled for hanging and is stamped with the pottery indent. Please note, this is very heavy, around 1.4kg so will require a substantial fixing. There isn't much info on the pottery out there, the favourite location appears to be Gillingham in Dorset but even that's guesswork. If anyone knows for sure, I'd love to know. In beautiful condition.

Vintage Desk Tidy or Similar - Hotel Ware? Grimwades Royal Winton

SOLD

Unusual looking thing in white porcelain and to be honest, I'm not altogether sure what it is. The fact that it has a logo leads me to believe it's some kind of hotel ware; the logo though, a capital M & B either side of a star, crescent and a ♀ symbol, is unfamiliar. It has a groove at the front and four small holes at the back, presumably for standing something in. The one thing I can be sure of is the date, which is 1951/52, owing to the "A" quality mark on the backstamp. Any knowledge gratefully received! There are a couple of very small flea bites to the edges but otherwise it's in fine condition and will provide a talking point

Vintage Evesham Jam Pot - Royal Worcester

SOLD

Large lidded preserve pot from what I think is a variant of the "Evesham" range by Royal Worcester. Please note, it isn't Evesham Vale or Gold. Both the lid and sides are ribbed and the pot flares out to the rim. It's in very good condition although the edge is slightly rough to the touch. The photo used here is very poor and accentuates the marks.

Pair of Small Vintage Undecorated Rectangular Bowls - Gray's Pottery

Intriguing pair of rectangular bowls or dishes by Grays Pottery. They are both slightly differently coloured, one a slightly brighter yellowish buff. The backstamps date from the mid 1930s but there are handwritten marks, too "D2 x 36" & "D2 x 37" and these appear to have been lacquered over. I suspect they may be colour test pieces of some kind, something I am accustomed to finding as I live near The Potteries and much of my stock is sourced from the area. Perhaps they were to be hand coloured later or maybe they were trialling different base colours. We'll never know. They're in excellent condition and are lovely and smooth. Still fantastic pieces in their own right.

Vintage Green Glazed Mug - Pearson's of Chesterfield

SOLD

Excellent green glazed mug with art deco inspired angular curved handle. Off-white inside, thick green glaze on the outside. The stamp on the base was one in use during the 1950s although this could be earlier or later.Condition is great although there are a couple of original marks inside where the glaze hasn't covered properly and there's some colour overlap on the rim. Nice old period mug, though.

Vintage Compact circa 1950s - Stratton

Lovely powder compact dating from the 1950s with a white top with pink flowers and 2 pink outer circles.  The gold-coloured metal is in remarkably good condition and the entire compact looks pretty good with only signs of wear and usage.  The inner mirror is in tact and there are still traces of powder in the compact.  If this compact had a mesh net to cover the powder, then that is missing and the powder buff is also missing.  A great item for any powder compact collectors.

Very pleasant bud vase with a floral design in subdued pastel colours. It's by Carol Wynne Morris of the Conwy Pottery in North Wales. She is still potting but has discarded the "Wynne". In excellent condition although be advised the photographs aren't all that good and that the colours are rather more pastel in shade.

Small Square Mint Green Vase or Pot Royal Winton Grimwades

SOLD

Rather nice cubed pot or dressing table posy vase in mint green with a gilded edge. The sides aren't straight, being slightly wavy. It's possible this had a lid at one time but it functions well on its own. The presence of the "A" quality mark on the base means we can date this accurately to 1951/2 and apart from a little wear to the gilding a few small crazes in the glaze it's in excellent condition.

Small trinket dish by JH Weatherby and Sons using the Royal Falcon Ware mark. It features a rural village scene with a cobalt blue and gold border. It has what appears to be a date stamp on the base - 1-72 - which would seem fair. Very slight wear to some the gilding on the edge and some crazing but in otherwise very good condition.

Vintage Mercedes Steering Wheel Shaped Bowl - Bond Ware

SOLD

Interesting three section ceramic snack bowl in the shape of a steering wheel, at the centre of which is the Mercedes three-pointed star. In each bowl there is a further racing themed image - helmet, chequered flag and a wheel. It's stamped "Foreign" on the base but the original importer's foil label, that of Bond Ware, is still affixed. Apart from a small chip on one of the arms it's in excellent condition and the chip is a small price to pay for an unusual piece of motoring kitsch.
