Slipware Novelty Frog Beer Mug - Peter Currell Brown - Snake Pottery

SOLD

Large slipware beer mug with frog lurking in the bottom and motto on the side, "Tho' tis not tasty, be not hasty". It is by Peter Currell Brown from his Snake Pottery who is probably more familiar as the author of the cult classic novel, "Smallcreep's Day". The mug is incised on the base "PCB 1980" and while it has some staining inside from use (that can be cleaned with a bit of effort) it is in pretty good condition with only a little bit of crazing visible on the lettering.

Orchard Gold Pin Tray - Aynsley

This will sell tonight so it's your last chance to bid on this charming pin tray in the Orchard Gold design by Aynsley. It has a gold knurled rim with very little wear although there is a bit of the image missing on the left-most leaf. As this is underglaze it should class the dish as a second but there is no marking on the back to indicate this. Otherwise in very good condition.

Vintage Silverine Devon Ware Georgian Milk Jug - Fieldings

SOLD

The backstamp dates this to between 1917 & 1930 or thereabouts. It's a Devon Ware Silverine finish milk jug in the Georgian shape by Fieldings. There is a little wear to the ribbing and there's a popped glaze bubble on the top handle join but it is still presentable for a piece in excess of 80 years old. The matt black handle finish looks almost new.

Vintage Albert Hallam Designed Globular Vase - 1552 - Beswick

SOLD

Vintage 1950s Albert Hallam designed globular vase, model number 1352, in matt black with gold dashes. The design was registered in 1954, I think, and was produced until the early 1960s. That the backstamp is of the "Registration applied for" type may suggest this is an earlier example, although the design was used with many different patterns. There is a bit of residue from something on the inside and a two or three small light marks but overall it's in very good condition considering the surface texture and its age.

Antique Small Oval Plate - Max - Hollinshead & Kirkham

Just a few hours left in this auction!

Small oval plate in the blue & white "Max" pattern by Hollinshead & Kirkham. The backstamp dates from between 1900 & 1924 and the general condition bears this out. It has some ingrained crazing, a couple of small chips to the edge and a small hairline crack across the footring but it's quite substantial and remains decorative.

Vintage "Totem" Sugar Bowl - Portmeirion

Vintage grey coloured sugar bowl in the iconic "Totem" pattern designed by Susan Williams-Ellis. This colourway doesn't appear very often - I'm not even sure what it's called. It does have some crazing, more visible on the inside than the outer surface but otherwise it's in good condition.

Vintage Brown Enameled Coffee Pot

Large foreign made enameled steel coffee pot. It has a hinged lid, large handle and is decorated with hand painted abstract/floral design. I think this may have been added later. It has a little bit of corrosion around the lid and base but nothing too severe and could be restored with a little bit of effort. It would really suit the narrow boat "Castles & Roses" style, if you are so inclined.

Antique Ceramic House Number Tile - 8

Antique or vintage ceramic house number tile, featuring the number 8 as a bow festooned with violets. I'm not sure who it's by but it does have a registered design number, 563592, but I've been unable to trace the manufacturer. The design was registered in 1910. It has some crazing, one corner is chipped and there appears to be a well established hairline crack from one side to the middle of the 8 but it looks sound enough. Set in place it will be fine though and a steam clean will remove the worst of the ingrained grime. To be honest, I'm pretty certain it is unused, just old!

Antique Poppy Charger - Grimwade Brothers

Beautiful small oval charger or platter in the "Poppy" pattern by Grimwade Brothers. It bears the backstamp from the late 19th C before the company became a limited one, hence the "Grimwade Brothers" rather than "Grimwades". The plate is in excellent condition with only some very light unstained crazing and would grace any table in its current state.

Vintage Large Black Ravenstone Vase - Wedgwood

SOLD

Large trumpet and bulb shaped vase in gloss Ravenstone finish with fluted bulb and base. San serif impression, pre-1974 backstamp  " stamp and what could be a year mark for 1969 (or conversely an 8). There are several small faults: there is a small faint chip just visible on the inside of the rim that has been fairly well repaired and it looks as though someone has re-coloured around the rim to hide some blemishes. These two are more visible in very brioght sunlight but in normal light and in use will be barely noticeable. There is also a firing mark on the bulbous base in the form of a 2cm long line, this can be turned away. But it is still an impressive vase and these rarely come up for sale in this size

Small Japanese Inspired Studio Pottery Bowl

SOLD

Interesting small earthenwarebowl on short pedestal. Although a delicate design it's finished in quite a rustic fashion, with a tan glaze over the thick walls  allowing the surface blemishes to show through. It looks quite apanese in style but there's no mark so I have no idea of maker or age. Very nice looking piece though.
