Pair of Vintage National Union of Railwaymen Membership Cards - 1945/6

A pair of National Union of Railwaymen Member's Cards for Crewe No 5 branch for the years 1945 & 46. They are for the same member. They are grubby with some ingrained marks but otherwise in pretty good condition with only the lightest of wear to the corners. All entries have been made in pencil so are quite faint in places but more often than not legible.

The backstamp is the 1964 - 67 version and the base is impressed with "1424" and "7 IN". Apart from some light crazing it's in super condition.

Slate Kitten in Boot - Collectable - Celtic Castings

Charming little ornament of a kitten playing with a ball of wool while in boot. Hand cast from slate based resin by Celtic Castings, this is at least 18 years old as the phone number on the label on the base is pre-01. It's in excellent condition.

Studio Pottery Posy Vase - Crat (?) Pottery

Very pretty multi-coloured drip glazed posy vase. Fairly wide neck and three groups of three smaller holes around the side. It's impressed with a stamp on the base but I can't quite make out the lettering - it looks like Crat Pottery but I can't find any reference to that name anywhere. Regardless, it's in excellent condition.

Vintage Cottage Ware Milk/Cream Jug - Price & Kensington

Hand decorated "Cottage Ware" milk or cream jug from the Cottage Ware range by Price & Kensington. Apart from all over crackle glazing or crazing it's in excellent condition. It is stamped with the Price and Kensington mark (Post 1962, I think) and the reg'd no of 845007, albeit slightly smudged.

Tall Contemporary Earthenware Stem Vase - Cyprus

Beautiful tall single stem or decorative vase in green and grey-blue glazed earthenware. It's a very contemporary design with two wings, asymmetrically arranged, and these are quite rough in strict contrast to the smooth lines of the vase itself. There is a hole through the neck but it's only a couple of mm wide so I think this is rather more decorative than functional. It may be that the hole is simply there to allow the hot air to escape during firing. There's a name on the base but it's in Greek, although it also says "Cyprus E24". Gorgeous item in mint condition.

22cm x 9cm. Bowl 4.5cm dia.

Handpainted Studio Pottery Posy Vase or Pen Stand

Haven't quite made my mind up about this as I think it has multi-use capability! It's a round, slightly conical earthenware receptacle with seven holes in the top and decorated with brown lines and green and orange dots. I originally thought it was a posy vase until I looked through the holes and saw all the ink marks on the inside. It is entirely up to you how you use it! There's a in impressed mark on the base that could be a BP monogram or a German ß. There's one small mark on the top and most of the orange dots appear to have white marks on them. These appear to be quite normal and otherwise it is in very good condition.

Large Vintage Unglazed Rough Finish Stoneware Bowl - Hartrox Stoneware

Large rough finished bowl or planter by Hartleys of Castleford. These were usually marketed under the Hartrox name or produced for Desmond Cooper's "Dee Cee" brand between the early 1950s and 1960. This one is sadly unmarked. It's in very good condition though and really just needs a good clean. I have done quite a bit of work on it, it looked as though it had been in a shed for many many years and there are now just a few white paint spatters and some ingrained grime left that should, with some effort or patience, come off. I did manage to get quite a bit of it off so it's do-able.

Brass Sealion Shaped Bottle Opener

SOLD

Fully functional sealion shaped bottle opener. It's in brass but it looks as though it was originally lacquered or plated and this is wearing off giving it a bit of a curious patina. Cap opener in the tail, twist opener underneath. There is a mark on the base of the twist opener but I can't quite make it out.

Large Vintage Wooden Coffee Table Box

Very nice table top box, probably a cigarette box, made from strips of two different woods. There's a note taped to the underside of the lid which says "Cyprus 1953 A present from Anna's Husband" so I think we can safely assume that it's 60 years old at least. It's in pretty good condition although it does have a couple of knocks and could do with a rub down with some fine wire wool just to liven it up a bit. Also two of the mitres appear to have separated very slightly but can be closed up in a cramp. Otherwise it's a fine piece.

23.5cm x 13.5cm x 8cm Internal width is approx 8cm so probably too small for King Size!

Pair of Antique Stoneware Bottles - Lovatt and Lovatt, Langley Mill

SOLD

Pair of small salt glazed stoneware bottles from Lovatt and Lovatt period of the Lovatt's Pottery of Langley Mill, Notts. One is glossy finished, the other matt. Probably medicine bottles or similar and from the very early 20th Century. The ink bottles were darker and this is unstained on the inside so I think that use can be discounted. The shiny one has a small chip to the spout but otherwise they are in excellent condition.

Vintage Pepper Pot or Shaker - Aylesford Pottery

Tenmoku glazed pepper pot from the David Leach founded Aylesford Pottery. At least I think it's a pepper pot. It has eight holes in the top although two are blocked with glaze. There's a spout, presumably for filling, on the side, stopped with a cork that has seen better days. I'm not sure of the age of the pot, it could be Colin Pearson period or later. The vessel itself is in excellent condition and has the round Ayelsford stamp on the base but no other mark.
